Their feelings can only go so far. They "testimonies" in the "True Church" are what exactly? Testimonies they had been taught to say since they were first brought into the Church, either by birth or decision later on in life. Their testimony is pounded into their head so hard, they can say it in their sleep. But what does it mean? And the main question is... Where is Jesus in it? They "know" the Church is the "True Church" and they "know" that Joseph Smith was a "True Prophet" and they "know" the Book of Mormon to be true... but where is Jesus? Do they "know" Him to be the Risen King? Do they "know" that He died on the Cross so they don't have to "work out their own Salvation"? The answer to these questions is a resounding... NO.
They do not know Jesus. Sure, they will say they do, after all it's called The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints. Well a quick look into Church History will tell you that it wasn't always called that. On April 6, 1830, it was deemed "The Church of Christ". On May 3, 1834, Joseph Smith himself, deemed if should be called "The Church of the Latter Day Saints," taking Christ out of it COMPLETELY! Finally on April 26, 1838, it was called, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." What gets me is the PROPHET of GOD took the name Christ out of the title! Does that strike anyone else as odd? The man who "communed with Jehovah" took the name of Christ out of the title of the one True Church. You do some math there... see what you come up with.
Now, back to if they know Jesus. They know Jesus to be the half brother of Satan. Yet, just show me Scripture to back that up. NOT Revelation... Scripture. According to www.fairmormon.org, "Jesus, Satan, and all humanity share God the Father as their spiritual sire. However, moral agency led Jesus to obey God the Father perfectly and share fully in the Father's divine nature and power. The same agency led Satan to renounce God, fight Jesus, and doom himself to eternal damnation. The remainder of God's children—all of us—have the choice to follow the route chosen by Satan, or the path to which Christ invites us and shows the way.
Divine parenthood gives all children of God potential; Christ maximized that potential, and Satan squandered it." http://fairmormon.org/Jesus_Christ/Brother_of_Satan
Okie dokie... Still brothers.
Do they know that His Grace is Sufficient? They only know His Grace to be sufficient "after all you can do". Do they know Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift from God, not of works lest any man should boast." Most likely no. That is the reason for this blog. I pray that Mormons, faithful Mormons, whom I truly do love will read this and stay up at night thinking. That they will not rely on a shaky testimony, because feelings will come and go. But that they will come to know the True and Living Jesus and they can take the weight off of their shoulders because "all they can do" will never be enough.
Those Missionaries knew I know that... and that is why they stopped coming by.
